We don't all believe that the climate is changing and that human activity is the main cause of climate change. Beliefs change over time, both at an individual level and in aggregate.Data on climate change beliefs are analysed to identify the factors which influence variations in belief. Data is also analysed by broad age group. Australian data from several sources are analysed, along with some data from the USA and Europe. It is concluded that the level of conviction amongst the general public is insufficient to force effective government action. Strategies to influence beliefs and to take action in the face of wavering beliefs are discussed.
